Aviation Day - May 20th, 2007

Sunday, May 20, 2007 North County Airport hosted an Aviation Day.  Exhibitors included Aeronautx, AMS, Angel Flight, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Barry Aviation, Civil Air Patrol (CAP), Cloud 9 Helicopters, Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), Liberty Aircraft, Ocean Helicopters, Palm Beach Avionics, Palm Beach Community College, Sherman Aircraft Sales, and others.  SunQuest provided Discovery Flights for $59.00 with a free SunQuest tee shirt.  The local EAA provided hamburgers and hot dogs for a small donation, and SunQuest provided breakfast and hors d’oeuvres on the patio all day. 

The highlight of the day was the President of AOPA, Phil Boyer, stopping by to visit all of us at SunQuest.  Andres Duque, a SunQuest pilot and employee, works at the Breakers Hotel when he is not flying.  He was privy to information that AOPA was staying at the hotel for various meetings and events.  He armed himself with SunQuest brochures and the Aviation day flyer, introduced himself to Phil Boyer, and a friendship was born.  He invited Mr. Boyer to come out to visit for Aviation day and he did!!!  Mr. Boyer along with his lovely wife, Lois, spent about 45 minutes in the office just chatting away about General Aviation with all of us.  He was gracious enough to allow photos with him, which can be seen below.  He even made a contribution to the “Send a Colombian to Flight School Fund!”  The fund started out as a joke, but Andres is now $71.23 closer to finishing his commercial license!!  Check out our bulletin board outside the office next time you stop by for details and updates.

It was a successful day for all of us at the airport.  We thank all of you who participated in the event and for your continued patronage and support of General Aviation.
