Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club meets one Sunday a month and flies to different Florida destinations within a hundred mile radius.  We meet at SunQuest for an 8:00 a.m. brief, 8:30 a.m. departure.  We launch the slower airplanes first and maintain altitude separation, so we can all arrive at approximately the same time.  You do not need to rent a SunQuest aircraft to join us.  Don’t fly, but want to come?  Call us and we will partner you with a pilot.  This is a great opportunity to take your significant other, children, or friends flying – and at the same time enjoy the company of your fellow aviators and some good food!  Please let us know if you will be attending in your own aircraft so we can give the restaurant a heads up.  We will have an alternate destination if weather is prohibitive.

Our first excursion in August was to C.J. Cannons in Vero Beach.  We bombarded the restaurant with 20 people in attendance.  Good food and service.

September was planned to go to the Sky View Café in Punta Gorda, but weather diverted us to the Runway Café in Sebring.  We had 18 people in attendance.  Good food, service a little questionable, but they had recently re-opened under new management.  We have been there since, and it is much improved.

October we made another attempt to the Sky View Café in Punta Gorda .  We almost didn’t make it again….. Ceilings were low and the skies overcast, but within an hour or so burned off and we were able to launch.  The weather turned out to be beautiful!  The Sky View Café is a small little place owned by a young husband and wife.  The ambiance was nothing special, but the service and food were excellent.  We will make that a return trip for sure.

November we headed out to the Flight Line Café in Bartow.  We had an awful headwind on the way up and it took longer to get there than expected – especially in the 152’s!!  And it was COLD!!  The restaurant was totally unprepared for us, in spite of making a reservation days in advance.  Food was good, but menu extremely limited.  We had 21 in attendance and it was a good time in spite of the restaurant.  Really nice FBO with a museum in the terminal.  Definitely worth the trip over.
