John Olaynick

I started my flying career in 1967.  I had no desire to pursue a career in corporate flying or the airline industry.  My background is a degree in education, which I feel gives me more insight to the learning process on how to make tough subject matter more interesting.  My experiences with flight instruction have not been the best.  On more than one occasion I would arrive for a lesson only to be told my instructor had left and I would be given a new instructor.  Needless to say, this can be very disheartening to a new aviator.  I made it through with the conviction to become a flight instructor and not subject students to what had been done to me.

My goals as a flight instructor are first and foremost, to make sure the student is getting more than what they pay for; whether it is extra time spent on the ground, or a phone call at home to answer questions.  Secondly, I make every effort to establish a friendly, as well as, professional relationship to assist students to become the best pilots they can be.  Thirdly, I want my former students to know they can count on me to challenge and upgrade their performance when they come back for additional training.  Finally, most pilots know there is a certain amount of lost motion when getting to know a new instructor.  However, most pilots like to return to an instructor whose habits and presentations they are familiar with, simply to facilitate the transfer of knowledge.  I always want to be there when my students need me.
